Accredited Business Accountant (ABA) exam preparation
The Associate in Accounting and Tax Specialist degree program at Broadview involves thorough and comprehensive studies in fundamental accounting and business topics, including a review course for the ABA exam. As a graduate of the program, you will be prepared to sit for the Accreditation Council for Accountancy and Taxation (ACAT) Accredited Business Accountant/Advisor certification (ABA) exam. Certification also requires three years of experience. The accounting program fulfills two years of that experience requirement and provides training in skills needed to gain entry-level employment as an accountant.
Enrolled Agent (EA) certification for tax advisors and preparers
This accounting certification is regulated by the U.S. Internal Revenue Service (IRS). An enrolled agent (EA) is a skilled professional who assists individuals and small businesses with taxation issues. An enrolled agent may be self-employed or work for the IRS or an accounting firm. Along with CPAs and attorneys, EAs are qualified to represent taxpayers before the IRS.
Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) and Fundamental Payroll Certificate (FPC)
The Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) and Fundamental Payroll Certificate (FPC) demonstrate a payroll accountant’s skills and knowledge. The certifications, offered through the American Payroll Association, prepare employees in large and mid-sized corporations to earn promotions and other career advancements.
Beyond the associate degree in accounting
A two-year degree in accounting is an excellent value. As a graduate, you will have skills that qualify you for entry-level employment in a growing field of employment. Career opportunities in accounting expand with the level of qualification. With additional education and experience, you may qualify for the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) certification.
