At Utah Career College, not only our business administration and accounting students, but students in all degree programs have the opportunity to participate in Delta Epsilon Chi (DEX). DEX, the college equivalent of DECA for high school students, is an international organization.
Membership offers a student a variety of opportunities for a student to prepare for life in the business world and develop valuable occupational, leadership and networking skills.
How can business training be “hands-on”? In preparation for DEX competitions, students work collaboratively, analyzing case studies of actual business events, role-playing business simulations and preparing professional-quality presentations. The practical critical-thinking, creative problem-solving and communications skills students develop in those activities set them apart from graduates of “textbook universities.” In fact, some employers volunteer to act as DEX competition judges in order to meet and recruit promising students.
A few of the many categories in which students can compete include:

Some students participate in DEX on campus, but choose not to compete in the events. They still benefit from practice, discussions and networking opportunities. The general and business training gained through DEX is valuable not only for the business or accounting student, but for the future massage therapist, personal trainer or paralegal.
