Education + Certifications + Work Experience = Higher Earning Potential

Base salaries in the health, fitness and recreation industries are based on a trainer’s education level, number and type of national certifications, specific populations served, and work experience in the field. Salaries increase with higher degrees, more national certifications achieved, level of work experience, specialized population-based training, and type of position held (i.e. manager, director, coordinator etc). Base salaries for most U.S. trainers fall between $38,000 and $65,000 a year.
