Career Opportunities in Massage Therapy

What will the next step be after you earn your degree or diploma in massage therapy? The profession offers an extensive array of options for those with healing hands. Entry-level career opportunities for a massage therapist might include employment in the following areas:

  • Private practice, for the massage therapist with a talent for business
  • Physician and chiropractic clinics, where massage therapy is part of a holistic approach to healing
  • Spas, one of the best-paying areas for massage therapists
  • Health clubs and gyms
  • Sports medicine clinics, helping athletes regain and maintain peak performance
  • Workplace massage
  • House call mobile massage service
  • Alternative health care clinics
  • Rehabilitation centers

Broad-based career preparation for massage therapists

At Utah Career College, we provide students in our massage therapy programs with introductory training in a broad range of techniques/modalities and treatments. The programs also include courses in small business management, ethics and business practices.

Graduates are prepared for entry-level positions in the above areas, and have had extensive opportunities to learn about the real world of massage therapy from massage instructors with extensive experience.

This broad preparation allows a student to make a well-informed decision about specializing in a specific area of massage therapy, such as deep tissue, myofascial release or Swedish massage; and to determine in which setting the student intends to practice.

A graduate of the Massage Therapy Diploma program may find value in returning to school and earning an Associate in Massage Therapy degree. An employee with a college degree may be the first considered for promotion to a management position in a spa or clinic.

Career support that extends beyond the classroom

As a student at Utah Career College approaches graduation, a representative of our Career Services will provide individualized career placement assistance, helping the student continue on a path to professional success and personal satisfaction.

Please contact us for more information. A representative will be happy to answer your questions. Our massage therapy programs are offered at campus locations in West Jordan (15 miles south of Salt Lake City Center), Layton and Orem.
