National certification confirms that a massage therapist is a highly-trained professional with a broad set of skills and knowledge. That certification is available to those who pass the National Board Certification Test for Massage and Body Work (NCBTMB).
At Utah Career College, we provide training that prepares graduates of our Massage Therapy programs to sit for the NCBTMB with confidence. In the course of the two-year Associate in Massage Therapy degree program or the 12-month Massage Therapy Diploma program, a student studies all material necessary for the exam.
Massage and Bodywork Licensing Exam (MBLEx)
Students also are prepared for and can elect to take the Massage and Bodywork Licensing exam (MBLEx). A therapist with a passing grade on the MBLEx qualifies for Utah State licensure.
Utah State massage therapy licensure
Upon graduation from the Massage Therapy program at Utah Career College and passing the NCBTMB or MBLEx, a massage therapist can apply to Utah State for licensure. (The student pays the state licensure fee.) The NCBTMB is recognized by 32 states.
American Massage Therapy Association membership
Graduates are qualified to join the American Massage Therapy Association (ATMA), and can participate in the organization’s work promoting the art, science and practice of massage therapy. Membership also provides therapists with professional networking opportunities.
