Training in massage therapy techniques, business and communications

Before practicing any massage therapy technique, you will complete Anatomy and Physiology I and Medical Terminology. All later training builds on that scientific base.

Massage Therapy courses form the core of the diploma program, and provide training and hands-on practice in a range of most-requested modalities, treatments and related skills, including the following:

  • Swedish massage
  • Body analysis
  • Body mechanics
  • Chair massage
  • Reflexology
  • Deep tissue techniques
  • Trigger point therapy
  • Neuromuscular techniques
  • Passive positioning
  • Muscle energy
  • Myofascial release
  • Therapeutic exercise strategies
  • Stretching

After completing most of this coursework, you will take Anatomy and Physiology II, Ethics and Business Practices and National Certification Review, courses that reinforce and pull together the knowledge and skills you have acquired throughout the program.

Supporting your career before and after graduation

We want to see our graduates enter the job market with resumes that stand above the rest. UCC even pays the testing fee for the National Board Certification Test for Massage and Body Work to encourage you to add that powerful credential to your qualifications. As you approach graduation, you will take our Career Development course and receive personalized job search assistance from our Career Services Department.

Apply diploma credits to a college degree

If you return to college after receiving your diploma, coursework from the Massage Therapy Diploma program will transfer smoothly to the Associate in Massage Therapy degree program.
