The Clinical Externship, a supervised clinical experience

Studying anatomy in the classroom or drawing blood from a classmate is valuable training, but there is nothing like real-world experience to prepare you for a career as a medical assistant. After you have studied the books, practiced the procedures, and role-played medical office and clinical scenarios, you will take your capstone course: MA 299, an in-clinic externship. Working in a clinical setting under the direct supervision of a medical professional, you will have the opportunity to practice skills and apply knowledge you learned in medical courses.

Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) exam review

MA280, CMA Review, will prepare you to sit for the Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) exam offered by the American Association of Medical Assistants. Your CMA credential will demonstrate that you have the skills and knowledge employers are looking for.

Build on your diploma – earn a college degree

Your Medical Assistant Diploma will qualify you for a variety of rewarding entry-level positions with clinics and outpatient care facilities. If you decide to continue your education and earn an Associate in Medical Assistant degree, every credit of your diploma program will transfer smoothly to the degree program.
