The program leading to the Associate of Applied Science in Nursing (AAS) degree at Utah Career College (UCC) is rigorous, comprehensive and compact. Graduates of the two-year nursing program are prepared for the NCLEX-RN exam and rewarding careers in nursing.
The course sequence for the associate nursing degree program includes science courses, technical training, general education electives, an NCLEX review and extensive supervised clinical experiences.
As a graduate of our 2-year nursing program, you will be ready to:
- Pass the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) exam and be licensed as a registered nurse (RN); Utah Career College has a very high first-time pass-rate for all nursing program students
- Get the job you want; our Career Services department has a 100% placement for all nursing associate degree graduates who pass the NCLEX-RN exam
After you pass the NCLEX-RN and have your license:
As a registered nurse with an Associate in Nursing degree, you will be qualified to work in hospitals, clinics and other care settings, performing responsibilities that include the following:
- Provide holistic, safe and age-appropriate nursing care
- Act as a client advocate
- Provide direct care for individuals with acute or chronic illnesses
- Participate in health and wellness promotion within the discipline of nursing
- Collaborate with clients, families and other health care professionals to assess clients’ needs
- Formulate appropriate nursing diagnoses to develop and revise nursing care plans to meet clients’ changing needs
- Manage and be accountable for care of designated clients
- Delegate responsibility to other licensed and unlicensed health care providers
- Advocate resource access for clients
Nursing: night and day classes in West Jordan
All classes and labs required for the associate nursing degree program can be taken in the evening or during the day at the UCC West Jordan campus. (Students in nursing night school classes also complete clinicals in the evenings or on weekends.) Not only is this the only Salt Lake City-area nursing program offered at night, it is the only one in Utah.
Applying for the Nursing Associate degree program
An applicant must be a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), hold a high school diploma or GED and complete the Nursing program application process.
