Veterinary technicians are allied health professionals who work with a variety of patients, including 10-gram finches, 150-pound Great Danes, race horses and raptors. They are employed by small animal hospitals, equine medicine practices and wildlife conservation projects. Veterinary technology is a challeging and exciting field that will require you to work with both your hands and your mind.
Veterinarians, animals and animal owners will rely on you to carry out your responsibilities as a vet tech professionally and proficiently. The Associate in Applied Science in Veterinary Technology (AAS) degree program at Broadview University (formerly Utah Career College) will provide you with hands-on skills training and with medical knowledge. As a graduate you will be ready to work with a variety of animal species in any of the following areas:
- Client communication
- Pharmacology
- Nursing
- Anesthesia and surgical assisting
- Clinical laboratory procedures

Broadview University provides vet tech students with scientific knowledge and hands-on training in procedures including hematology, surgical assisting, dentistry and imaging. In the capstone course, veterinary clinical training (externship), they apply their knowledge and skills in practice.
Veterinary technology careers take technicians into a wide range of settings, including small animal hospitals, breeding kennels, humane societies, equine practices, wildlife rehabilitation centers and product manufacturing companies.
