Information Technology – College Programs and More

A college with a strong IT program provides students with both technical training and soft skills. As graduates, they will be effective communicators, analytic thinkers and prepared to work in a wide range of environments.

Information technology is not an industry – but every industry needs IT

A small business owner who keeps records on a desktop computer, a multi-national corporation and a government agency serve different audiences in different arenas, but each relies on information technology. A modern organization may make use of a computer service and support contractor or have an in-house IT department.

In either case, the computer specialist supports a wide range of processes, including the following:

  • Operations
  • Accounting
  • Finance
  • Marketing
  • Human resources
  • Security
  • Communications
  • Business planning

Broadview University (formerly Utah Career College), information technology degree programs provide students with the business training to serve those areas effectively. Contact UCC today to discuss our programs.

IT services: the interface between business and technology

Information technology involves the maintenance and use of computer systems, software and networks for the processing and distribution of data. IT services include:

  • Computer software publishers
  • Internet service providers
  • Data processing services
  • Web search portals
  • Telecommunications
  • Computer systems design

Every information technology college and university program includes technical training in some or all of those areas. At Broadview, we consulted with area IT professionals and employers, members of our Information Technology Program Advisory Committee, to identify critical skills. As a result of the advice of the PAC, our students receive thorough, rigorous training in computer programming, system design, and other technical areas common to information technology. Our college also requires students to complete coursework in business and liberal arts. As graduates, they are ready to serve as computer support specialists, technicians and in other information technology roles in a variety of industries.
