Information Technology Certification Exam Preparation

When an employer scans resumes from applicants for an information technology position, industry certifications pop out. As a graduate of Broadview University (formerly Utah Career College), you will have more than an associate or bachelor’s degree– you will have technology certifications that verify your high-value skill sets.

IT certifications – hitting a fast-moving target

No field changes as rapidly as information technology. A certification might represent a skill set universally recognized as essential, yet in a few months it becomes obsolete. As a small organization focused on practical, contemporary skill training, Broadview University is able to respond quickly to advances in IT employers’ expectations.

Many of our information technology courses map directly to current IT certifications. Graduates of our associate in and bachelor’s in information technology degree programs are prepared to sit for a variety of certification exams, including the following:

  • A+ Essentials from CompTIA
  • A+ Technician from CompTIA
  • Network+ from CompTIA
  • Security+ certification from CompTIA
  • Oracle Database 11g: SQL Fundamentals I
  • CCNA: Cisco Certified Network Associate

Additionally, attaining any one Microsoft certification will entitle one to become a Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP). IT students at Broadview can prepare for the following Microsoft Certification exams for Windows Server 2008:

  • Windows Server 2008 Network Infrastructure Configuration
  • Windows Server 2008 Active Directory Configuration
  • WIndows Server 2008 Application
  • Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Implementation and Maintenance

These exams bring a student within one exam of becoming a Microsoft Certified IT Professional for Windows Server 2008 (MCITP) and within two exams of becoming MCITP Database Administrators.

College credit for information technology certifications

At Broadview University, it is our goal to help every student complete his or her degree program as efficiently as possible. If you have received on-the-job training, or covered material through self-study, you may be able to receive advanced credit towards your IT degree. Contact us to discuss credit for your work experience or IT certifications.

IT degree programs and core requirements

The bachelor’s and associate’s in IT can be completed at any or several campus locations. Students can also enroll in our online information technology degree programs. For certification training provided in each, please see:
