The right legal degree program can be a ticket to a rewarding, high-paying career. Imagine assisting an attorney in court, conducting a client interview or drafting a contract. How do you get started?
At Utah Career College, we offer paralegal studies degree programs that prepare students for those and other situations. Every instructor is an attorney or paralegal with extensive experience in the area of instruction. Our courses focus on practical, realistic skills. Consider:
- Students role-play dealing with difficult clients, clients who lie and clients who do not trust the legal team.
- Students learn how to master new technology skills and have many opportunities to apply skills from their computer classes in specific legal contexts.
- Students learn professional standards of behavior – how to work as part of a team, make ethical decisions, maintain a positive attitude in the midst of challenges, and demonstrate a strong work ethic – important “soft skills.”
- Courses in the legal degree programs emphasize writing skills. Every course includes writing assignments and provides opportunities for detailed and specific feedback.
- In every legal studies course, students gain practical, hands-on experience in doing the kinds of things paralegals actually do – researching legal issues, drafting legal documents, assisting with discovery, preparing correspondence, managing documents, and dealing with clients.
Four-year, two-year and one-year legal degree programs
The Bachelor of Science in Paralegal Studies is a challenging, comprehensive four-year degree program. A graduate is prepared for entry and mid-level paralegal positions in many law firms, corporate legal departments, military organizations and government agencies.
The Associate of Applied Science in Paralegal Studies is a two-year program that prepares students for entry-level employment in the legal industry, and serves as an excellent base for further studies.
The Legal Administrative Assistant Diploma program provides students with basic office skills and legal knowledge, preparing them for positions as legal secretaries, receptionists and clerk-typists.
Legal training, legal careers
Career opportunities for paralegals and other formally trained legal specialists are excellent. At UCC, we strive to provide every student with skills training the student can then apply directly in the workplace. We invite you to read student testimonials to the quality of training, the dedication of instructors and the value of personal relationships the students found at UCC.
If you would like more information on our legal degree programs, please contact UCC Admissions. A representative will be happy to answer your questions and arrange a campus tour. The programs are offered in West Jordan (13 miles south of Salt Lake City Center), Layton and Orem.
