A motivational program teaching respect for the legal profession

“The paralegal program had a great impact on me! The love of the instructors and students in my program and the school was a motivator – when it got hard I didn’t give up. So many options and doors will now open for me.

I have learned so much and the program has caused me to have respect for those in the legal field. All of those in a legal vocation are required to learn great amounts of knowledge in order to fulfill their roles. I see how the law is there to assist people!

If someone asks about education, I’ll tell them UCC is the best place to learn. Instructors take the time to teach you everything you need to know. There is always an open door for help if you need it! I’m excited about my future!”

Teresa Bennett, 2008 Summer Grad Paralegal A.A.S.

The program was an eye -opener!

“The paralegal program is definitely an eye opener! It has significantly broadened my knowledge. There are so many fields you can go into as a paralegal. There’s so much more opportunity than I ever dreamed in this field!”

Jolene Reynolds, Paralegal, A.A.S. 2008 Summer Graduate

Students receive support that helps them achieve their best

Dear Claire,

I just wanted to tell you “thank you.” I thought going back to school was going to be far too difficult for me. I felt like I was starting all over again. Now that I am here, it’s not as bad as I thought it would be. I am thanking you for that.

It is hard for me to learn right out of the book, but listening to your lectures has given me so much help and understanding this quarter. When I listen to you talk, I actually get and understand what you are saying. You have made my learning experience a lot better than I expected.

I am not nearly as scared as I was before. You have been one of the few teachers that have been there for me when I needed it the most. I am planning on working with special needs kids – a lot of them fall through the cracks. My sister has Down syndrome. She is one of the lucky ones, but I have seen what happens to the ones who don’t get the help they need. I want to do what I can to help those kids as much as I can.

One of my biggest goals right now is to start looking for a job in a law firm. If I get some hands-on experience working in a law firm, I think it will help me that much more with school.

Claire, thank you so much for all of your help this quarter. I really needed it. Because of you, I really have good hopes for the future now.

Dustie Pippin, First Quarter Student, UCC West Jordan

The paralegal program is fun!

“The paralegal program was difficult for me but extremely rewarding. I had all the help behind me that I needed. In retrospect, it was fun with lots of activities. The administration and faculty of UCC are very supportive.”

Classes are motivating and meet students’ needs

“I love the paralegal instructors. They take the time to teach you everything you need to know. Class discussions are motivating and structured to meet each student’s needs. I’ve enjoyed my program so much that I will continue with UCC to get my Associates and Bachelor’s degree in the Pparalegal field.”

Aubra Hart-Burnham, Legal Administrative Assistant Program Summer 2008,

Students learn what they will be doing in the workplace

“The Program Coordinator was behind us 100%. She really wants to see us graduate and be successful. The program is completely geared toward what we will be doing in the workplace. It’s helpful!”
