Financial Aid: You Can Afford College

Have you wondered whether you can afford the cost of tuition and the time it will take to get a college degree? Have you considered whether you can afford NOT to go to college? We invite you to meet with one of our financial aid representatives and discuss those questions.

If you are wondering how to finance higher education, you are not alone

  • A college education is an excellent investment.
  • Few students can afford tuition, fees and books.
  • Scholarships, grants and loans can make it happen.

Scholarships, loans and grants

At Broadview University (formerly Utah Career College) we believe you deserve access to higher education and the career opportunities that will follow. We will do all we can to help. At the time you enroll, you will have the opportunity to sit down with a financial aid representative, evaluate various scholarships, grants and loans and the possibility of an employee tuition reimbursement plan offered through your employer. After looking at the whole picture, the representative will help you work out an affordable payment plan.

Scholarships exclusively offered at Broadview University

Our school offers a number of specific scholarships that defray the cost of college for Broadview students:

Federal loan and grant programs

Broadview University is an eligible institution approved by the Department of Education for participation in the following programs:

  • Federal Pell Grant: Federal Pell Grants are available to those who qualify. Pell grants do not cover all costs of education. The amount of a Pell grant can range from a minimum of $400 to a maximum of $4731 per year.
  • Federal Supplement Education Opportunity Grant
  • Federal Stafford Loan Program: Federal Stafford Loans are available to those who qualify. Ninety percent of all students at UCC utilize these. Subsidized Stafford Loans have a maximum of $3500 for the first year, $4500 for the second year, and $5500 for additional years. Dependent students (except students whose parents cannot use a PLUS loan) can borrow an additional unsubsidized $2000 each year. Independent students (and students whose parents cannot use a PLUS loan) can borrow an additional unsubsidized $6000 each year for the first two years, and $7000 in each subsequent year.
  • Federal Plus Loan Program

Supplemental loans are available to those who qualify. The loans are typically credit based. Additional funds may be available through:

  • Division of Rehabilitation Services
  • Veteran’s Administration (VA)
  • Division of Workforce Services

Outside resources must be reported to the Financial Aid Office. The Financial Aid Office is not responsible for locating these funds. Separate applications may be required.

Gift Aid is awarded annually based on the fiscal year dates of July 1 through June 30. Students attending in more than one fiscal year period must reapply for financial aid assistance.

Financial Aid is awarded and credited on a quarterly basis. Students interested in Financial Aid should schedule an appointment to meet with one of the Financial Aid Coordinators.

Education is an investment that you can count on

Your investment will pay off. According to the U.S. Department of Commerce, workers with two-year degrees will earn about 28 percent more than high school graduates, and those with four-year degrees will earn 43 percent more than two-year degree holders.

We encourage you to contact our admissions office today and prepare to take advantage of those opportunities. A representative will be happy to help you evaluate our degree programs and answer any other questions. We look forward to seeing you at one of our three campus locations: West Jordan (Salt Lake City), Orem or Layton.
